11/22/2023 0 Comments Freedom planet 2![]() ![]() A character that's having anger issues has a level with enemies that attack you with fire. You access each level by shrinking in the 3D world to microscopic size and entering a character's body. All the worlds with their themes are given a meaning. You collect cards to unlock doors, but why are you collecting cards? You have a bunch of cool levels that all have a central idea, but why are you in these levels? The great thing about Anodyne 2 is that it not only improves on the gameplay ideas of the first, but also recontextualises the ideas in the first game to have it actually make sense and fit well with the story. The gameplay ideas in the first game were great, but weren't anything more than gameplay ideas. I mentioned that the sequel also incorporates the first game's 16-bit gameplay, and I feel like that's undersells it. All of this aside, the regular introduction of new ideas and mechanics kept the game fresh and had me engaged up to the end of my 6 hour playthrough. It definitely isn't perfect the story's pretty difficult to grasp leaving a lot to interpretation, the combat is fun but nothing you need to think about much. As someone who's never properly played a Zelda game, and who hasn't played a 16-bit game in a very long time, I had a surprisingly really good time with it. A self-proclaimed "classic Zelda-lite game", you go around in this 16-bit world as you meet eccentric characters, collect cards, solve puzzles and fight enemies with your trusty broom in a dozen or so distinct levels. The first Anodyne is something I never thought I'd see myself playing. Now these games weren't released back to back, so the jump from the first game to its sequel was more gradual than an Uncharted 2 jump, so I'm also considering two games in a series, no matter how far apart the games are. This doubles the number of phases Lord Brevon has in Freedom Planet. So over the past week, I've been playing through two of Analgesic Productions' games, Anodyne and Anodyne 2. Out of all bosses in Freedom Planet series, she has the most number of phases, 6.The intro scene where Merga screams as she awakens is a popular meme amongst the Freedom Planet fanbase. It is unknown whether Merga chose to be bioengineered, or was forced to. ![]() It appears to be the latter case, as proven in the stage Gravity Bubble that Bakunawa rose because of the lit up beacons all around Parusa.Either Merga is using telekinesis to control Bakunawa, or perhaps she was only putting her fist up for a dramatic effect. It shows Merga raising her fist up as Bakunawa rises up from the ocean. It seems like Merga may be able to control Bakunawa telepathically, as shown in the announcement trailer for Freedom Planet 2.Despite this, once he learned the truth regarding Merga's true intentions with Bakunawa, he regretted his actions and left her side.ĭue to being bio-engineered, Merga likely has enhanced powers and abilities at her disposal, some of which includes enhanced strength and being able to create energy blades from the palm of her hands. Merga despises the Magister and any other earth dragon for not only enslaving the water dragons, but also committed genocide that left her and Lilac the last of their kind.Īskal reveals that he was working for Merga after accusing the Magister for his crimes. However, she's the only one who Merga has a soft spot for being a water dragon alongside her, such as calling her hatchling. It is confirmed that Merga does not have any kind of relative connection to Lilac, aside from the fact that they're both water dragons. Merga has demonstrated a romantic interest in Cordelia, despite the former being a water dragon and the latter an earth dragon respectively. After her kind was wiped out by the accidental firing of Bakunawa's mining laser by the earth dragons, she swore vengeance on them and will stop at nothing to achieve her goal, despite it being against her lover Cordelia's wishes. Merga is depicted as a headstrong, determined champion of immeasurable power. Merga's outfit is a royal-like battle armor with the color scheme of black, gold and purple. She has fin-like ears, fins on the back of her head, a long tail and 3-clawed feet. Merga is a pure-blooded water dragon with light blue skin and magenta eyes. ![]()
